We are in business to make money but we make money selling products and installing renewable energy systems, not by inflating shipping costs.
It is SolarHomestead’s goal to get your products to you as fast as possible at a fair price. Our standard shipping service is Canada Post’s Expedited Post service. It is a commercial shipping rate that is not the fastest but much less expensive than Express Post and much safer than regular mail as there is insurance available and a tracking number.
When you begin to place an order you will asked your country and state and/or postal code/zip-code.
Our store will contact Canada Post and give you two or three shipping options. You pick the service you want depending on what kind of rush you are in and that is what will be added to your order. We do not charge extra for packaging or service fees.
The postal rate you see is exactly what you will be charged.
For those of you in the USA, you might think that Canada Post’s rates are high and you are correct as their rates are much higher than United States Postal Service (USPS) rates and to make matters worse, packages move much slower north of the border. However as of April, 2016, one US dollar ($1.00 US) is worth 1.3 Canadian dollars ($1.30 CAD). Folks from the USA, can divide our prices for products and shipping by 1.3 and that is roughly what will show up on your credit card statement.
We can only bill credit cards in Canadian Funds. PayPal will immediately show you how much the transaction will cost in US Dollars before you press “Make Payment”. No surprises.
Just wanted to clear that up as I know so many solar stores (and other online stores) that advertise very low prices but charge incredibly high shipping and handling charges. Thanks…Jody
